5. Post. The label appears beneath the text of the post.

• Android: Settings, Apps, find X, tap Permissions, then toggle Location.

At the account level, inside X:

Two practical consequences:

• Photos from the in-app camera are the sensitive case. A photo chosen from your camera roll and a plain text post are not the same thing as a shot taken inside X with precise location toggled on.

#The sticky default that leaks locations

The single most useful thing on this page, and the thing nobody warns you about.

X states that once you post with a location, your next post will automatically include a general location label using your current location. The app remembers, so the location you attached deliberately at a conference becomes a location attached accidentally from your kitchen that evening.

To clear it for one post, X's own instructions are: tap the compose icon, tap the location icon to open the dropdown, and tap the X in the top left to remove the location information. Your location then stays off future posts until you choose to add one again.

If you want it off permanently rather than per post, uncheck the setting that adds location information to your posts, in Settings and privacy under Privacy and safety. X says you can turn post location on or off at any time.

Build the habit instead: if you tag a location once, clear it deliberately rather than assuming the next post starts clean. That default is the mechanism behind most "I did not mean to share where I live" stories on this platform, and it is a two-tap fix.
